The Wirtschaftsförderung metropoleruhr (wmr) economic development agency offers companies based in the Metropole Ruhr or heavily involved in the region a range of centralised services including cooperation agreements for joint trade fair presentations in Germany and Europe and an overview of some of the most important networks in each field of competence. The wmr is also helpful when it comes to providing personal contacts and an address search for partners on-site. It also offers access to the ruhrsite database of commercial and real estate properties as well as sponsorship details.

A range of additional information services are also available compiled by the development agency for various entrepreneur-based target groups. These services represent a first port of call and spring board for further research and include information about technology, innovation and entrepreneur centres, university information transfer points in the Metropole Ruhr and the STARTERCENTER for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia which offers advice to entrepreneurs. The wmr also offers information on company succession, venture capital circumstances in the Metropole Ruhr, franchising issues and continued and further education.
